Dutch for University of Groningen students, PhDs' and postdocs A2 > A2/B1 - online

At the moment there are no courses open for registration. The next course round will start in April. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we will keep you informed about the exact start of the course registration.

Dutch is the language of instruction right from the start of the first lesson. The language courses concentrate on communication, and that means that the Dutch learnt is actively practised during class. The intended final level of the course is CEFR A2/B1.

This course will be taught as an online interactive group course via Blackboard Collaborate; our online classroom for the coming period! One lesson lasts 90 minutes. Per lesson you should count on 2-3 hours of self-study. Read here everything you can expect from an online language course.

International students, PhDs' and postdocs of the University of Groningen are being offered these Dutch courses at the Language Centre by the Board of the University of Groningen. Read everything about these regulations and see if it applies to you here.

Advice
Students who already have some knowledge of Dutch, to be demonstrated with an advice card, may take a level A2>A2/B1 course. In order to receive an advice card, please attend the Dutch Office Hour or take the level A1>A2 or 0>A2 course.

Dutch for native speakers of German
There are separate groups for German native speakers. Because German and Dutch are so similar, the material can be covered faster.

Course Material
In this course, the first half of the book Nederlands in actie is covered. From September 2022, we will be using the updated 4th edition of this book. The 3rd edition cannot be used during the course as its content is very different.

  • Nederlands in actie
    B. de Boer, M. van der Kamp and S. Pentermann (Publisher Coutinho, 2022, 4th edition)
    ISBN: 9789046908426

Along with this book you will receive an individual code for a website offering complementary exercises, spoken text fragments, movies and songs. You will need access to the website to be able to adequately participate in the course.

Where can I buy the book?

  • At the Support Office of the Language Centre during opening hours, see here if and when the desk is open.
  • At your local bookstore, or online bookstores such as Coutinho and Bol.com. When buying a regular book online, please note the delivery time to ensure that you receive the book on time.
