Japanese CEFR A1/A2 > A2 - online

The Japanese language courses of the University of Groningen Language Centre will introduce students to the Japanese language or build on knowledge and skills already present. The emphasis will be on communication in everyday situations in relation to Japanese culture. In addition, attention will be paid to grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation.

This course is intended for those who have taken the level A1 > A1/A2 Japanese course (formerly A1 > A2) at the Language Centre or who have reached a comparable level of proficiency. In the course A1/A2 > A2, only Japanese characters are used. Participants should then be able to read these characters. This means that participants must be able to read kana characters if they want to participate in the A1/A2 > A2 course. Being able to write Kana characters is not necessary, but it is useful if you can type Japanese on your computer.

Study load: 7 lessons of 1.5 hours. The lessons take place once every 2 weeks. You can count on 2,5-3 hours of self-study per lesson.

Language of Instruction
The target language is the language of instruction as much as possible. When necessary, the Japanese course is taught in Dutch or English (depending on the group composition). The course material is in English.

Online course
This course will be taught as an online interactive group course via Blackboard Collaborate; our online classroom for the coming period! One lesson lasts 90 minutes. Per lesson you should count on 2-3 hours of self-study. Read here about everything you can expect from an online language course.

Get a taste during the free Webinar Week!
On 31 January, you can attend a Japanese webinar during which you can find out about the courses and the virtual classroom, ask questions and get a taste of what to expect.

Office Hour
If you want to register and you have not previously taken a Japanese course at the Language Centre, we advise you to visit the office hour to discuss with a teacher which course would suit you best, but this is not mandatory. Please note that you can already register for the course you are interested in. The office hour is held via Blackboard Collaborate.

Office hours only take place in the period before the start of the course. If office hours are scheduled, you can make your appointment here.

Course Material
The course material is not included in the course fee and is not available at the Language Centre.
